These regular visits allow Dr. Singer to monitor your child’s oral development, remove plaque and tartar that home brushing can’t reach, and catch any potential issues early when they’re easiest to treat. However, some children may need more frequent visits if they have specific risk factors such as orthodontic appliances, a history of cavities, or certain medical conditions. During your child’s first visit to ABC Children’s Dentistry, Dr. Singer will evaluate their unique needs and recommend a personalized preventive care schedule. Regular preventive visits not only keep teeth healthy but also help children become comfortable with dental care, building positive habits that last a lifetime.
Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth (molars) where decay most commonly occurs. These teeth have deep grooves that can trap food and bacteria, making them difficult to clean thoroughly with brushing alone. Sealants create a smooth surface over these grooves, preventing bacteria and food particles from settling in and causing cavities. The application process is quick, painless, and requires no drilling or numbing. Dr. Singer typically recommends sealants when a child’s permanent molars erupt (usually around ages 6 and 12), though they can sometimes be beneficial for baby teeth with deep grooves as well. During your child’s check-up, Dr. Singer will evaluate whether sealants would be beneficial based on your child’s unique oral anatomy and cavity risk factors. With proper care, sealants can last several years and significantly reduce the risk of cavities in the protected teeth.
